Mumbai: To ensure accessible healthcare services for underprivileged patients in Maharashtra, the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) is taking a significant step under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A Government Resolution issued on January 22, 2025, announced the establishment of “CMRF Assistance Cells” in all district collector offices across the state. This move will enable citizens to avail themselves of essential services locally, without needing to visit the state capital.

Convenience for Citizens With the launch of district-level CMRF Assistance Cells, citizens will no longer need to travel to the Mantralaya to apply for financial aid. These cells will assist with application submissions, provide updates on their status, and address concerns at the local level. This initiative is expected to save significant time and money for beneficiaries. Furthermore, dedicated staff at these cells will help patients and their families with filling out applications and resolving procedural issues.

Fully Paperless Process The application process for financial assistance through the CMRF is transitioning to a completely paperless system. A dedicated online platform is set to launch soon, allowing citizens to submit applications and receive real-time updates on their status. This digital transformation will make the process faster and more efficient.

Expert Committee to Oversee Aid Allocation An expert committee comprising senior doctors has been established to review and expand the list of illnesses eligible for financial aid. The committee will also reevaluate the amounts sanctioned for various treatments, considering the rising costs of medical care. This initiative aims to ensure that more patients receive assistance and that funds are allocated appropriately.

Integration of CMRF and Charity Portals In a major upgrade, the CMRF Online System (CMRF Portal) will be integrated with the Charity Hospital Assistance Online System (Charity Portal). This integration will streamline application tracking by merging the AO and M numbers into a unified process, making it faster and easier for applicants to navigate.

Appeal to Citizens To date, the CMRF Assistance Cell has provided financial relief to thousands of patients across Maharashtra, offering hope and support to families facing expensive and critical treatments. Citizens are encouraged to make full use of these services, which have been designed to bring assistance closer to those in need.

This initiative is not just a source of financial aid but a lifeline for many. By extending these services statewide, the government aims to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and citizen-centric.
